Tickets now on Sale for the Powercor Stawell Gift
Tickets for the 2021 Powercor Stawell Gift are now on sale. The 139th running of the Powercor Stawell Gift will take place from April 3-5 in Stawell, Victoria. Visitors to the famous three-day carnival will be treated to top level athletics in a COVID-safe environment.
The Powercor Stawell Gift is an icon of Australian sport. Each Easter Long Weekend, Australia’s best runners and thousands of spectators descend on Central Park, Stawell, for one of the World’s most prestigious athletic carnivals.
2021 represents the 139th running of the Powercor Stawell Gift, with athletes competing for $60,000 in prizemoney. Competitors in the Change our Game Women’s Gift also compete for a $60,000 prize purse, with the event offering equal prize money for men and women.
Unlike the World Championships or Olympic Games which are conducted on synthetic rubber surfaces, the Powercor Stawell Gift is run on a grass track. For the majority of the year, Central Park in the regional town of Stawell is home to local AFL football and cricket, but at Easter time it transforms into an athletics mecca. For the sprint events, the athletes run in lanes that are separated by lane ropes, not painted lines. The famous finish gates are one of the most iconic features of the Gift.
2021 is a comeback-year for this iconic event, with 2020 becoming only the fifth time that the event hasn’t been held since 1878, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The only other year’s the Gift was not contested were 1942-45 during World War 2.
Organisers are committed to the safety and wellbeing of spectators, athletes, volunteers, event workforce and will implement COVIDSafe measures across the three days of the carnival. This commitment includes Central Park having two ticketed spectator zones, with spectators to remain within their ticketed zone for the duration of each session. Reinforcement of enhanced hygiene practices, implementing contract tracing of patrons, frequent high-touch surface cleaning and the exclusive use of digital tickets will also be implemented.
The 2021 Powercor Stawell Gift will take place from April 3-5, 2021 with the finals of the Powercor Stawell Gift and Change our Game Women’s Gift taking place on Easter Monday. The event will be broadcast live and free on Seven from midday AEST on Monday April 5.
