Each new Reality TV series or season takes over our lives for up to 3 months at a time. We’re glued to our screens to see who our next pop superstar will be or who is going to receive the next rose. As soon as it’s all over, we tend to forget about them and get on with our lives or move on to the next season or show.

For most of the reality superstars their 15 minutes of fame abruptly comes to an end. But some are able to use their platform to build and create a successful long term-career.

We take a look back at our favourite reality celebs and remember where it all began.

Sophie Monk

It only took one audition for the reality TV series Popstars back in 1999 for Sophie Monk to start her rise to fame as she was chosen to help form girl group Bardot with their memorable hit Poison. From there Sophie took off on her own singing and acting career both overseas and back in Aus featuring on shows like Getaway, The Voice, judging on Australia’s Got Talent and so much more before searching for love as the star on The Bachelorette. Sophie now helps other young couples find love as she hosts Australia’s own Love Island.

Jessica Mauboy

Who could forget our Aussie sweetheart Jessica Mauboy as she belted out Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” to the Australian Idol judges back in 2006. Jessica ended up placing 2nd in the grand final but went on to star in an Australian favourite musical comedy, The Sapphires in 2012 and represented our shores in the 2018 Eurovision contest. Not to mention releasing a tonne of smash hits along the way.

Sam Frost

Who could forget Sam Frost winning The Bachelor with Blake Garvey by her side only for it to come to a shocking halt. Although Sam and Blake didn’t have their happy ending, Sam went on to build an incredible career starring in her own season of The Bachelorette, hosting a breakfast radio show with Rove McManus and is now back on our TV screens every night with our favourite cast on Home and Away.

Rob Mills

Another one of our beloved Australian Idol artists who made his way into the top 5 in season 1. Rob has been all over our screens hosting a selection of TV shows, competing in Dancing With The Stars, performing in countless musical theatre productions before cementing his place within the cast of Neighbours for the past 2. Having recently moved on from Neighbours we are staying tuned to see where Rob will pop up next.

Julie Goodwin

Making a name for herself as she cooked through the first ever season of Masterchef, Julie took out the winning position against Poh Ling Yeow. She went on to release a number of cookbooks and starred in her own afternoon cooking series Home Cooked! With Julie Goodwin before fighting it out on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! back in 2015
