Having stepped out from behind Malcolm Turnbull and into a brave new world, Lawrence Mooney is set to bring us his beautiful new show – aptly named “Beauty”! We caught up with Lawrence to find that he’s slightly technology challenged, desperately misses a live audience and think it’s time to start nurturing great Aussie talent!

What have you been doing with yourself during lockdown?

We moved house and I haven’t plugged the tele in because I’m technophobic and it’s just not like switching it on. So I’ve lived without tele for months and I love it.  And binge drinking. So I’ve been binge drinking in front of a blank screen.

What are you most looking forward to about performing live again?

The faces and the laughter.  I can’t begin to tell you how much I miss live entertainment.

Have there been any positives to come out of this period for you or the industry?

The industry has been decimated but I’m sure it’s been a fertile time for creativity.  I reckon comedy will roar out of the blocks.

With the restrictions on international travel set for some time, will 2021 be the year of celebrating great Aussie talent?

Maybe it’s time to stop looking to distant shores and start nurturing our own industry. Stuff the US and the UK.  Let’s do it here.

Tickets are now on sale for the re-scheduled dates for Beauty at the Regal Theatre, WA in November. Find your tickets here. All tickets purchased for the original dates will be honoured for the re-scheduled dates.
