5 Seconds of Summer, or 5SOS, as affectionately referred to by their universe of adoring fans, rose to prominence in 2011 during their early teens. It wasn’t long before the boys from Western Sydney were identified and signed by music labels after being discovered on You Tube posting videos of themselves playing covers of their favourite artists.

Young and immensely talented, 5SOS were booked to support One Direction for their worldwide tour in 2013-2014 and the rest is history.  Australia’s new favourite boy band were set for International stardom and a place in Australian music history.

The boys have been known to not conform to any singular genre but express themselves in a variety of styles including pop, rock and punk. Their influences have included Blink-182, The Gorillaz, All Time Low, Nirvana, INXS and Green Day to name a few. 5SOS have released four studio albums and have headlined five world arena tours. Since the beginning of their career they have received 152 award nominations and 72 wins. Notable achievements include:

  • Outstanding International Achievement Award at the 2019 APRA Awards
  • Best Duo/Group of the Year at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards
  • Song of the Summer for ‘She’s Kinda Hot’ at the 2015 MTV VMAs
  • New Artist of the Year at the 2014 AMA Awards

Our Favourite Album:

Youngblood, the 3rd studio album released by 5SOS ranks comfortably as their biggest album to date. As a single, Youngblood has grossed over one million sold copies worldwide and is now the most streamed Australian song of all time on Apple Music, placing the band in rarefied company. The album wasn’t just a one-hit-wonder either, with hit singles ‘Want You Back’, ‘Lie To Me’, ‘Valentine’, ‘Talk Fast’, ‘Moving Along’ all popular songs in their own right and placing further emphasises on the band’s ability to diversify their music, sound and broad appeal within mainstream music.
