Wisconsin’s own, Bon Iver, the brilliant indie folk band, lead by singer-song writer Justin Vernon has been blessing our ears with their melodic tunes since their debut album For Emma, Forever Ago back in 2007. Written and recorded in complete isolation in the woods of Wisconsin the album bought us along on the journey of brilliance within Justin Vernons mind giving us iconic songs like Skinny Love which are still covered by numerous artists and played on the radio today.

Bon Iver’s journey to fame has seen the band play at Lollapalooza back in 2009, has shocked fans with legendary collaborations with the likes of Kanye West in 2010 and has left the music industry taking note as Bon Iver won Best New Artist over Nicki Minaj in 2012.

Still staying true to their indie roots, Bon Iver decided to release their 2016 album 22, A Million around the world including Melbourne, through a listening party which found fans huddles in alley ways, listening to a cassette tape and receiving newspaper printouts of band artwork.

With their latest album i,i, released in 2019, the experimental sounds show the journey Vernon has been on resulting in 39 minutes of true power and emotion.

Our Favourite Songs

Lose yourself within the old classic Skinny Love, no matter how many times you hear it, or how many versions of the songs there are, we can’t help but turn it up and sing along. It’s a comfort song pulling at every heart string with every tone.

Hey, Ma is another one to put on the playlist, straight off their new album, we can’t help but hit repeat every time it plays. The instrumental sounds have us feeling so warm and wonderful with Vernos sweet vocals making the song sound so personal and just for us.

The Latest
