Sydney’s own indie rock band, Boy & Bear have been bringing us tunes for over a decade ever since their first song ‘The Storm’ hit Triple J Unearthed back in 2009. From there, David Hosking, Killian Gavin, Tim Hart, Jonathan Hart and David Symes started an epic music career, cementing their place as classic Aussie favourites with their warm and rich tones.

Not long after their first single, the band shot to fame with their debut album Moonfire back in 2011 which saw the 5-piece take home five ARIA Awards including Best Album of the Year, while also placing three songs in the Triple J Hottest 100. From there, the incredible indie hit ‘Southern Sun’ was released in 2013 and so was their next album Harlequin Dream, which again made its way to the top of the ARIA charts. In 2015 the band released ‘Limit of Love’ which made waves all over the world.
In 2015, lead singer Dave Hosking experienced the toughest two years of his life. After travelling the world and playing countless gigs, Dave knew something was off, feeling fatigued and confused sporadically for months. After many appointments he was then diagnosed with Chronic Dysbiosis, a condition involving an imbalance of bacteria in the gut. This then led to the band taking some time to heal away from the limelight with a 4-year break before returning with a vengeance with their album Suck On Light released in 2019, documenting the good and the bad of Dave’s health struggles.
Now bringing us a collection of acoustic re-interpretations of some of their favourite tunes including their new song, ‘3 Moons’, Boy & Bear have created At Golden Retriever Studio, released this year.
