Jessica Hilda Mauboy was born in Darwin, Northern Territory on August 4 1989. Of the Kuku Yalanji people, Jessica grew up loving music and being involved in her local church choir. Her rise to fame came about when she won the fourth season of Australian Idol in 2006, at the age of 17.

Following her Australian Idol win, Jessica joined pop group “Young Divas” for a brief period. Her debut album “Been Waiting” was released in 2008, which included her first ever number-one single – “Burn”. Jessica has won two ARIA Music Awards, whilst also having won an AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in The Sapphires.

Jessica’s success has continued with her representation of Australia during the 2014 Eurovision, and more recently becoming a coach on The Voice Australia in 2021.
