Adelaide will play host to a blockbuster swim meet this May as the country’s best athletes gather for the 2022 Australian Swimming Championships!

Dubbed the ‘Battle from the Blocks’, the Australian Championships will also serve as a trial meet for the Australian Dolphins teams set to compete in the FINA World Championships and Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

It kickstarts a busy calendar of competition on the road to Paris in this shortened Olympic cycle.

Australian Dolphins Olympic Head Coach, Rohan Taylor, believes the Championships will bring out the best in the athletes.

“There will be genuine selection opportunities for major international competitions at this meet and I have no doubt our athletes will be pushing each other to produce their best with plenty to swim for,” Taylor said.

“We are always looking for opportunities to get our athletes in the pool competing and such a high-quality Australian Championships will be the perfect preparation in the lead up to these benchmark international meets.”

Tokyo Gold medal stars Ariarne Titmus, Kaylee McKeown and Zac Stubblety-Cook will be in action alongside rising stars including Flynn Southam and Lizzy Deckers, while Cody Simpson will look to continue his recent run of form in his aim to qualify for his first Australian Dolphins team.

The Australian Championships will run from May 18-22 at the South Australian Aquatic Centre in Adelaide.
