Steve Balbi’s musical career has taken him all the way from the founding bass guitarist of Noiseworks back in 1986, through to fronting the newly formed Mi-Sex who we’ll soon be performing live as part of Sunset Sounds. We asked Steve about some of his favourite Mother’s Day and mum memories.

What’s one of your most memorable moments with your mum?

Her breaking the wooden spoon on my ass.

What’s your favourite Mother’s Day memory (as a mum/with mum)?

I was always slack with Mother’s Day I sadly regret to say, however I’m trying to make up for it now.

What’s your favourite Mother’s Day memory (as a mum/with mum)?

She was always busy as we had a big family but somehow she would always make time for simply play cuddle and a laugh. She has a way of making you feel special.

What have you tried to take from your own mother in terms of parenting?

Not to use the wooden spoon.

If you could describe mum in one word, what would it be?

Angel.

What are the values your mum instilled in you that you are grateful for today?

Honesty, hard work, gratitude.

Do you and your mum have a favourite song you belt out to? If so, what is the song?

Mum is tone deal, no chance of that!

Can you remember trying to impress your mum when you were younger?

No, I could fart and mum would think it was the best thing she’d ever heard.
