No contribution to help those in need is ever too small or insignificant, especially at a time like this. Whether we give our money, time, or patience, remembering that we are #StrongerTogether is what will help us get through COVID-19.

Alongside the millions of people doing their bit, some of music’s biggest names are making their own contributions. Here’s a few that we wanted to give a shout out to, along with all of you out there making a positive difference to your communities.

Elton John

Elton John holds a special place in all our hearts, he’s the soundtrack to a lot of our most cherished memories. He may be a self-confessed shopaholic but he also gives back big time, especially with his most recent contribution of $1 million to the AIDS Foundation.

In a Tweet posted on 4th April Elton said, “Today, I’m proud to announce that my Foundation @EJAF is launching a $1million COVID-19 Emergency Fund to make sure that our frontline partners can respond to the effects of COVID-19 on HIV care for the most marginalised communities around the world”.

On 29th March, Elton also hosted the iHeart Living Room Concert for America featuring artists like Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish and many more which raised $8 million in funds.

John Mayer

It’s the gift of music John Mayer has given us over the span of his career. Now, the people of the Livingston HealthCare Foundation have been gifted ventilators after Mayer reached out to ask them what they needed the most.

Apart from monetary contributions, Mayer also hosts Current Mood, his live show on Instagram where he interacts with fans, performs and shares his unique sense of humour.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is perhaps the Queen of social media and has been using her large platform to rally support for businesses and individuals in need. She engaged with her 179 million fans on Instagram to share a list of organisations she was donating to in order to inspire action and empathy.

Grande has also helped 20 fans with financial contributions between $500-$1000 using Venmo. She has aided in paying bills and taking care of salaries that were lost due to the shutdown of non-essential businesses.

P!nk

P!nk has always been a pioneer. It is apparent in her music and in her real life. After testing positive for the virus, P!nk took to Instagram to inform fans of her now negative diagnosis.

Two weeks ago my three-year old son, Jameson, and I are were showing symptoms of COVID-19. Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to tests and I tested positive. My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative. It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible. This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities. In an effort to support the healthcare professionals who are battling on the frontlines every day, I am donating $500,000 to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia in honor of my mother, Judy Moore, who worked there for 18 years in the Cardiomyopathy and Heart Transplant Center. Additionally, I am donating $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund. THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes! These next two weeks are crucial: please stay home. Please. Stay. Home.❤️

In light of her experiences, she has donated $500,000 to support the healthcare professionals at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia in honour of her mother who worked there for 18 years.

Another $500,000 was given to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.

Rihanna

Rhianna can do it all, it is why the world adores her. Now, there is one more reason to be a fan. Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation has donated $5 million to support those working in the frontlines in communities most at risk in the USA, the Caribbean and Africa.

This money will help provide food for the elderly, streamline testing processes, protective gear and respiratory supplies for those most affected.

Selena Gomez

Selena own health journey became very public when she underwent a kidney transplant in 2017. She has now decided to give back to those same professionals that helped her at Cedars-Sinai – a non-profit hospital in Los Angeles.

Gomez let her Twitter followers know “I’m donating to @CedarsSinai as they are low on masks and ventilators. They’ve taken such good care of me so it’s my turn to show my gratitude.”
