The Royal Mail are releasing a set of 13 stamps in the U.K. to commemorate everyone’s favourite rock group Queen. Band members Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon will appear on the stamps alongside the band’s albums.

Queen will be the third rock band to ever appear on postage stamps in the U.K, following The Beatles and P!nk Floyd. The Queen stamps will be publicly released on July 9.

“It’s hard to put into words what I feel when looking at these beautiful stamps...Since we four precocious boys started out on our quest 50 years ago, our lives have been devoted to making our impossible dream come true. Sometimes it’s strange to wake up and realize the position in which we are now held — we have become a national institution! And nothing brings this home more than this incredible tribute.” – Brian May

“What an honour. We must be really part of the furniture now!” – Roger Taylor

The 13 stamps will include the bands most influential albums:

  • Queen II (1974)
  • Sheer Heart Attack (1974)
  • A Night at the Opera (1975), News of the World (1977)
  • The Game (1980)
  • Greatest Hits (1981)
  • The Works (1984)
  • Innuendo (1991)

The four band members will appear individually on a stamp, with the last stamp showing a black and white group shot from the 1970’s.

Queen have dedicated their lives to producing music and making fans smile, and the Insider team are so excited to see the stamps come to life.

If you’re in the U.K. you can preorder the stamps here. If you’re not in the U.K. you should just check them out because they look amazing!
