After a lockdown that lasted a lifetime, live entertainment is making its way back to the city of Melbourne. Sidney Myer Music Bowl will be filled with music this summer, as part of a plan to reignite the city’s best cultural institutions.

Sidney Myer Music Bowl will host an outdoor festival featuring over 40 performers as part of the state government’s $17.2 million package for cultural industries. The festival is expected to provide close to 2,000 job opportunities within the creative and event industry.

The manager of Sidney Myer Bowl, Arts Centre Melbourne, has released a rendered plan of how an event of this size could look and work to ensure the safety of patrons. The render includes individual platforms for groups or attendees spaced throughout the venue. This plan is one of a kind and a massive step forward for the industry.

Live at the Bowl is just one of many initiatives to get the entertainment industry back on its feet. In addition to live music, the venue plans to host several events, including open-air cinemas, food and beverage outlets and more.

“This extensive program will showcase Victoria’s incredible creative talent, deliver thousands of jobs and reinvigorate our creative, hospitality and events sector. It will be a celebration of all we’ve achieved together to get through this year, and will bring people back to the experiences we love in new, exciting and COVID-safe way,” said Victoria’s Minister for Creative Industries Danny Pearson.

We look forward to seeing Sidney Myer Music Bowl reignite the creative and event industry in Melbourne after a tough year.
