The Big Top Sydney is in the heart of Sydney’s iconic Luna Park Sydney!
Whilst our music scene is on a current pause, we are taking a trip down memory lane to blasting the past up to reminisce on some of our most memorable gig’n times!

1. Harbour Party NYE – 31st December 2004 and every year since!

How could we not include the best party we have all year – Harbour Party NYE! We partied hard into 2020 with the likes of Hot Dub Time Machine, Example and Thandi Phoenix. Past years we’ve had some huge names join us too, such as Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Carl Cox and Havana Brown. The atmosphere in The Big Top after the clock struck 12 was electric, as we were awestruck by the stellar fireworks which were then backed up by Hot Dub Time Machine who opened his epic two-hour set – definitely our highlight of 2020!

2. Bruno Mars – 14th April 2011

Off the back of his first album Doo-Wops & Hooligans, Bruno Mars was fresh on the scene and not many people knew about this musical powerhouse. We were lucky enough to host him when he was on his way to superstardom, featuring a brilliant mix of his new tracks and covers of some old-school classics. What a showman!

3. The Saboteurs (The Raconteurs) – 20th April 2019

American singer-songwriter and rock legend Jack White heads up The Saboteurs (known as The Raconteurs to the rest of the world) alongside Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler. The band requested a device free show (which required a whole crew to come in and put them under lock and key), but this made the atmosphere so much more intimate without the constant glow of phone screens. White left the audience in awe with his incredible riffs, drawing us in until the very last second.

4. Dune Rats – 7th March 2020 & 1st October 2017

Dunies (as they’re affectionately known) was one of our last gigs before the dreaded COVID hit – and boy did they blow the roof of this place. Not only that, they had one of the wildest stage sets we’ve seen in a while, topped off with a giant blow up rat (and we even got a cheeky feature in their latest music video for Bad Habits). The Dune Rats are no stranger to the Big Top either, having performed here back in 2017 as well.

5. Dua Lipa – 21st March 2018

Pop star Dua Lipa blew us away in more ways than one. With insane vocals and an overall showstopping performance she pulled out all the stops to impress both us and her fans.

6. The Jungle Giants – 11th October 2019

All hail, Australian Indie Rock royalty the Jungle Giants! Seriously, when you think about a high energy set, Jungle Giants blow it out of the water. The unstoppable fourpiece band harness the power of music, the auditorium on both SOLD OUT nights was a sea of enchanted dancers embracing the Jungle Giants talented anthems. Watch out for this talented Quadro who are taking the world by storm!

7. GOT7 – 20th April 2017

We couldn’t have a top 10 without a K-Pop performance, and GOT7 was one of the best! The K-Pop fanbase are some of the most dedicated we’ve seen, with fans queueing up as early as possible to get the best spot in the house. Mix the electric atmosphere and glowing lightsticks with an incredible performance and you’ve got the perfect recipe for one of the best K-Pop performances the Big Top has seen.

8. Doobie Brothers – 5th & 6th January 2006

With two back to back sold out shows, the iconic Doobie Brothers has got to be one of our favourite gigs we’ve had. To top it off, on the final night we saw a treasured encore where the band invited their families and children to join them onstage, making it memorable for them and us as well!

9. Come Together – 2005 – 2014; 2015 – 2016

Throwing it back to our favourite homegrown festival – Come Together! Come Together was born in 2005, featuring some of the best up and coming indie/R&B/rock bands and artists with a few going on to become household names. Some of our favourite acts over the years included The Presets, Birds of Tokyo, Regurgitator, Illy, Hermitude, Bliss and Eso, Grinspoon, Ball Park Music and so many more!

10. Rupaul’s Drag Race – 2nd July 2016 & 15th February 2019

Rupaul’s Drag Race has performed at the Big Top Sydney many times and always manage to turn the venue into an extravaganza that hosts some of the most fabulous drag queen’s the world has seen. There is no lack of sequins here with plenty of glitz and glamour, creating an atmosphere that has you dancing and singing along to every queen’s performance – werk!
