With gyms slowly reopening, we are all searching for ways to spice up our workouts (that doesn’t involve walking from the couch to the fridge). TikTok has exploded with a series of fitness workouts and challenges that have us working out whilst watching our phones. Here are some of our favourite routines to help you keep active.

Plank Challenge

The plank challenge is a full body partner workout testing coordination, strength and trust all at once. ‘Pretty Girls’ keeps the beat of the arm, leg and abdominal movements that make up the routine.  A jump and roll finale separates the weak from the strong, showcasing which of us can actually get off the floor. Grab your mum, dad, sibling, housemate or partner and see who gets squished first (be sure to send us a video).

Abs Challenge

The abs challenge is a core workout routine using the instructions of famous TikTok song ‘Hit Yo Rollie.’ Following the lyrics, you move your arms and legs to the beat of the song whilst trying to keep that core still. This core burner is almost like a dance, see how many rounds you can get through before you can no longer Hit Yo Rollie.

Stronger Challenges

For those of you who are into a more intense full body workout, Daft Punk’s ‘Harder, Better, Faster’ has provided a range of challenging moves. Our favourites include the squat and push up challenge where you pause with each beat and hold the movement. You can adapt this song to any muscle group which is great for those of us without a gym.  If you’re keen for a challenge, give the flexibility and abs one a go, we’ll be sitting here watching.

Expert Level

Our favourite workouts are the ones we simply watch from the comfort of our couch. This video of Steve Cook using Morgan Moroney as a barbell is serious relationship goals, but maybe we’ll sit this one out! Other expert level workouts include the stand-up challenge, which is a little hard too explain, but involves a lot of jumping . This challenge is only classified as a workout because it probably takes so long to get perfect without injuring one another.

We are loving the exercise enthusiasm from the TikTok world and will definitely make our workouts a little more exciting. If you are feeling lost with your new workout routine, maybe TikTok is a good place to start.
