At a time when you can’t get to a live show, multi-award-winning Australian entertainer Catherine Alcorn has teamed up with TV/Film producer Brian Cobb to bring the show to you. Alcorn, together with three-time Gold Logie nominee, Rodger Corser will host Australia’s newest virtual venue The Reservoir Room

Born from necessity to resurrect Sydney’s live entertainment scene, a dedicated group of industry professionals have collaborated to unveil The Reservoir Room – a virtual hidden gem that will stream from the iconic Paddington Town Hall.

The Reservoir Room will live-stream a line-up of our most loved entertainers, and some fresh faces, from theatre, live music, cabaret and drag directly to homes every Friday and Saturday night.

“This is our industry’s new normal and we need to ensure our industry can survive these times with light at the end of the tunnel…” said Catherine Alcorn.

It all starts Friday 5 June with Alcorn and Corser hosting a brand-new weekly variety show, Friday Night Live. Immediately following, on Saturday 6 June, will be a curated Saturday Night Cabaret And Live Music Program showcasing various acts and artists from across the industry. This format will then be repeated every Friday and Saturday night for an initial 5 week run.

“The Reservoir Room is a throwback to live and dangerous TV, crossed with the personal and intimate feel you get from being in the audience of a great live show. You’ll get to see great gigs but also be taken backstage where we have a drink, a chat and a laugh with the stars in the Green Room.” said Rodger Corser.

Kicking off the opening weekend of cabaret and live music on Saturday 6 June at 7.30pm is multi-talented film and television star Tim Draxl performing his beautiful tribute, “The Chet Baker Journey”.

Headlining the first live music slot at 9.30pm will be Australian rock royalty, Phil Jamieson of Grinspoon fame, who said, “I can’t wait to finally play a gig again! A huge thanks to The Reservoir Room for having me onboard and I hope this is the first of many.”

Alcorn and Cobb have done an incredible job to rally so many of our most talented artists at a time when the industry is doing it tough. She said, “We are leading with acts that have lost their work due to Covid-19. This means the artists have no income.”

Fittingly, in these unusual times, a different ticket pricing structure is in place. Tickets will be available on a ‘pay what you feel’ basis starting at $5 for the Friday Night Live show. A percentage of the proceeds will be made to Actors Benevolent Fund and SUPPORT ACT.

An incredible line-up of artists have already be confirmed to appear over the coming weeks including Ursula Yovich, iOTA, Ben Mingay, Wharf Revue stars Phil Scott and Jonathan Biggins, Erika Heynatz, Ilan Kidron (The Potbelleez), Mark Trevorrow, Matt Copley, Verushka Darling, The Divine Miss Bette and many more.

The Reservoir Room opens this Friday 5th June with tickets available at Ticketek.
