The music industry has been silenced in only a matter of weeks. Thousands of events have been cancelled and rescheduled only months after coming together for the Australian bushfire relief, Fire Fight Australia. Australian artists and crew need your support now more than ever.

Many of us have recently said goodbye to our favourite festivals, local gigs and concerts of a lifetime. It’s times like these that make us question how we can help, or what we could do to support those in more difficult situations. Sound Of Silence (SOS) is a national initiative from a Music Industry Taskforce that aims to assist Aussie musicians throughout this unpredictable time. The music industry is sending out an extremely real SOS to anyone that hopes to never hear the sound of silence.

What Can You Do?

#KeepYourTickets

For those lucky enough to have scored a rescheduled date for your event, we encourage you to #KeepYourTickets and support your favourite artist or act in this time. If you can’t attend the rescheduled date (you should definitely move things around so you can go) consider donating the cost of your refunded ticket to Support Act. This music charity is providing relief to artists, roadies and music workers suffering hardship due to the current events.

Who Doesn’t Love Merch?

Whether it’s been thrown into the crowd or paid for with hard earned cash, there’s no better feeling than leaving a gig with a new tee or hat. Although our favourite music acts are performing from living rooms, their merchandise is a wise investment. Through the SOS online superstore, you can purchase custom tees designed by Jack Irvine and Reg Mombassa. The proceeds from these two pieces of merch will go directly to Support Act, helping our fellow Aussies do their thing. If these two designs aren’t your style, be sure to jump onto your favourite artist’s website and check out what they have to offer.

Virtual Support

Keep your smartphone close by and continue to support our Aussie artists online. From live-streamed concerts to the best Coronavirus playlists, there is always a way to support the industry. If you’re stuck at home, binge watch the live concert movies of your favourite musicians and discover their journey to fame.

Stay Connected

We are so lucky to be isolated and working from home in this era, the power of technology is keeping us grounded and connected. A lot of people and industries are suffering during this time, so be sure to connect with artists you love and offer moral support or a simple ‘thank you.’

Look Beyond the Curve

When this is over, we will all be itching to get out and about to see our loved ones and soak up the sunshine. Make sure you have something to look forward to and look beyond the curve. Grab a group of friends and buy tickets to your favourite band in the near future or a little further away.

The industry needs your help now, so we can have something to look forward to later. #KeepYourTickets and donate to Support Act if you can.
