We all love Aussie sporting stars for their amazing on-field exploits. But there are many who’s amazing exploits continue off the field. The Insider team have highlighted the Aussie athletes that have used their influence and passion to create a foundation. From cricket to athletics, AFL and more, our Aussie’s truly have a heart of gold.  

Ponting Foundation 

The Ponting Foundation is dedicated to doing everything possible to help young Australians and their families beat cancer. It provides funding for a wide range of essential services that comfort and nurture young Australians with cancer while providing emotional support and financial assistance for their family. 

McGrath Foundation 

Well known for creating the amazing Pink Test Match each year, the foundation funds the McGrath Breast Care Nurses who support individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer. Their nurses provide physical, psychological and emotional support from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment. 

Ricky Stuart Foundation 

The Ricky Stuart Foundation was set up in December 2011 with the support of PwC to help Ricky achieve his goals in raising awareness for autism. Our goal is to raise funds to directly support the aftercare for autistic people and help families who struggle daily with autism. 

Reach Foundation 

Reach was founded by AFL legend Jim Stynes and Paull Currie in 1994. Reach run group workshops to develop the social and emotional wellbeing of young people. The workshops are 100% led by young people. They design it and deliver it. They’re armed with the kind of insight only a young person can truly grasp. 

The Evonne Goolagong Foundation 

The Evonne Goolagong Foundation is the realisation of Evonne’s dream for life after the pro tour. To give as many Indigenous children the opportunity to be the best they can be. 

The Wirrpanda Foundation 

Launched in 2005 by former West Coast Eagles player David Wirrpanda, the Wirrpanda Foundation aims to lead the provision of education and employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. The priority of the Foundation remains to employ local Aboriginal role models who are empowered to build capacity in their own communities. 

Cathy Freeman Foundation  

Cathy Freeman established the Cathy Freeman Foundation in 2007 to help Indigenous children and their families recognise the power of education and achieve their goals and dreams. 

The Dylan Alcott Foundation 

The Dylan Alcott Foundation is committed to helping young Australians with disabilities overcome the barriers of entry to sport and education by providing fundraising for grants, scholarships and mentoring.
