Welcome to Van Gogh Alive, an arts experience unlike anything you’ve seen before! Digitally projecting Van Gogh’s iconic works through the expansive room in the Royal Hall of Industries – a combined surface area of more than 30 IMAX screens, including projections on the floor – you feel as though you are walking through the paintings, becoming part of the art yourself! Classical music swells as you take in the light and colour. The result is an experience that is simultaneously enchanting, entertaining and educational.
Created by Grande Exhibitions, Van Gogh Alive takes you from Van Gogh’s humble beginnings in the Netherlands to his colourful life on the streets of Paris and finally his descent into mental illness in the south of France. Learn how one of the world’s most famous painters discovered his artistic style, while also understanding more about the man behind the brush. This is an experience that’s perfect for all ages! Young ones will love playing and dancing through the beautiful imagery, with many visitors saying their kids didn’t want to leave! It’s the perfect way to introduce your little ones to the magic of Vincent Van Gogh.
In such a difficult year for so many in the live entertainment and hospitality sectors, it’s been a particular joy of the exhibition to bring many in the industry back to work and subsequently regenerating life into the Moore Park entertainment precinct. Almost all of the Van Gogh Alive floor staff are made up of live entertainers, from street artists to circus performers, working alongside people from other hard-hit industries including hospitality and aviation.
